Situated in the heart of Little Tokyo, the 8th annual Nisei Week Car Show displayed some tricked out JDM cars as well as a handful of modified Domestics and Europeans from the West Coast. Some of the teams represented included Hybrid, Hokori, Flux, High Intenzity, Bone Out, and Ryoku. Everyone came out with their finest rides and showcased some of the best in custom paint jobs, body kits, engine mods, and carbon fiber everything. I don't know how much time is spent keeping the engines shiny and pristine, but there were some immaculate pieces of work on display. Props to all of the owners for displaying their sweet rides.
What this Nisei Week festival embodies is the celebration of the traditions of the past, while ensuring that future generations carry on the cultural beliefs and rituals in the future. The Nisei Week Car show is just one way of continuing a different type of culture, the car culture that knows no ethnic, religious, or gender barriers. It is a great way for car enthusiasts to gather, socialize, and talk about the love that they have in common, their vehicles. I can't think of a better place to have this gathering than in a city where car culture reigns supreme and without a car it's basically impossible to get around the City of Angels.
