The 2006 Fast Fours Jamboree was back in Action for its 16th time. Once again Willowbank Raceway in Queensland played host to what was the biggest and best Jambo ever seen, and this time it was an international affair!

Making the trip all the way from Puerto Rico was a 3 car entourage, with the Clubman Corolla, Steidel Racing Datsun and Bam Bam IV Mazda Miata making the enormous trip to race on the fast Willowbank track and holding the Rotary flag high. Both the Clubman and Datsun made the Pro Compact final with the Corolla running a 7.76 for the win.

From New Zealand came Reece McGregor and his world record holding R32 Skyline GT-R. Reece smashed the long holding 4wd record held by the HKS R33 GT-R from Japan with an amazing 7.57 at 191mph.

Pro Turbo saw a Joe Signorelli running a 6.889 in qualifying in his 2JZGTE Powered Toyota Camry and the appropriately named Mr. Mad Ivan Tesic lifted the wheels over half of the track to an insane 6.85 in his Twin Turbo v8! The crowd was on its feet every time Ivan's lumpy silver bullet laid down a burnout that could only be rivaled by a Nitro Funnycar.

One of the most anticipated cars of the weekend was the new Queen Street Racing E46 BMW. With a quad rotor 26B under the hood, and a couple of shakedown passes, Bill Nabham steered the car to an easy 7.50 second pass. Time will only tell what this car is capable of.

The action wasn't only on the racetrack, there was also a giant show and shine and a Bikini Babe competition that left many jaws on the ground. Emma Taylor from Brisbane took the prize and the cash to win the Miss Jamboree Competition, much to the delight of the huge crowd.

With the Jamboree having completed round 1 of the Australian Sport Compact series, it is now on to Calder Park Raceway in Victoria for round 2 with more records and close racing to come. It seems like sport compact drag racing is here to stay in a once v8 dominated land.
